What is Photomath?

Photomath pioneered snap-to-solve maths help. Point the camera at an equation — printed or handwritten — and it solves it with a clear step-by-step breakdown, often with multiple methods and animated or visual explanations for why each step works. Coverage runs from primary-school arithmetic through algebra, trigonometry and calculus, and a built-in scientific calculator handles typed problems.

Now owned by Google, the app remains the reference design for maths solvers: fast recognition, honest pedagogy and a huge library of textbook-style problems. The free tier solves and explains most everyday homework; Photomath Plus adds animated tutorials, deeper explanations and textbook solutions. As a conversational tutor it is more solver than chat partner, but for the specific job of unsticking a maths problem at 10pm, few tools are better.
