What is Google AI Studio?

Google AI Studio is Google's free playground for its Gemini models, and the quickest way for anyone — developer or just curious — to try the newest releases the day they land. A chat-style prompt window supports text, images, audio and video, with controls for temperature, system instructions and safety settings that the consumer Gemini app keeps hidden from view.

Every experiment can be turned into an API key and code in a few clicks, which is why AI Studio doubles as the on-ramp to the Gemini API and to models like Nano Banana for images. Generous free tiers cover casual use, with paid API billing for scale. The interface is functional rather than polished, and rate limits bite during busy launches.
