Google Deep Review
Agentic AI that stress-tests technical documents for errors before humans review them.
What is Google Deep Review?
Deep Review is Google's agentic AI system for rigorous technical document review, released publicly worldwide in October 2026. It attacks the "validation bottleneck" — content being generated faster than humans can verify it — by scanning research papers, design documents, presentations, and legal or financial documents for mathematical errors, logical gaps, unsupported claims, and inconsistencies, grounding facts against external sources and comparing against existing work.
Instead of a single LLM prompt, Deep Review runs a four-stage pipeline: autonomous document segmentation, adaptive compute budgeting per section, deep parallel verification by specialized reasoning agents, and global synthesis with agentic grounding to guard against hallucinations. It grew out of Google's Paper Assistant Tool pilots, which reviewed 16,000+ manuscripts across STOC, ICML, NeurIPS, and ICLR. It takes PDF and plain-text inputs today, supports Gemini 4 Argon, keeps uploads private (never used to train models), and offers an API for programmatic and CI workflows.
Key Features
- Four-stage agentic review pipeline: segmentation, adaptive budgeting, parallel verification, global synthesis
- Checks mathematical statements and logical consistency, and grounds claims against external sources
- Reviews research papers, design docs, presentations, plus legal and financial documents
- Privacy-first: uploads are never used to train models and are stored one year for UI display only
- Deep Review API for programmatic verification in CI and drafting workflows
Pros
- Free weekly reviews make rigorous document checking accessible beyond elite institutions
- Tested at scale — 16,000+ manuscripts reviewed across four flagship CS conferences
- Agentic grounding and parallel verification go well beyond a single-prompt LLM check
Cons
- Limited to PDF and plain-text inputs for now; multi-file support is still coming
- Free tier caps at 2 reviews per week — heavy users need their own Gemini API key
- Aimed at technical documents; not a general writing or editing assistant
Pricing
- Model: Freemium
- Free: 2 complimentary document reviews per week, worldwide. Higher usage by connecting your own Gemini API key (standard Gemini API rates apply) — check the official site for current pricing.
