What is NoteOwl AI?

NoteOwl AI, launched on Product Hunt on November 3, 2026, is a private AI meeting note taker for Mac that never puts a bot in your call. It records your microphone and your Mac's own audio, so it takes notes on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and other apps with nothing joining the meeting — and because the speech recognition and AI run on the Mac itself, it works offline after a one-time model download.

When a call ends, NoteOwl writes a speaker-labelled transcript, a summary, the decisions, and the action items, and files what you owe and what you are owed on one Commitments board. You can also chat with your whole meeting memory and jump straight to the exact moment something was said. Dictation into any app — tap the Function key and talk, and your words type live at the cursor — is free and unlimited, forever.

Key Features

Records meetings without a bot joining the call, from your mic and Mac audio
Fully on-device AI: transcription, summaries, and search work offline, nothing uploaded
Speaker-labelled transcripts with summaries, decisions, and action items
Commitments board tracking what you owe and what you are owed, sorted by due date
Searchable meeting memory you can chat with, plus free unlimited dictation into any app

Pros

Genuine privacy: no bot in the call and no recordings leaving your Mac
One-time $79 lifetime licence instead of another monthly subscription
Free unlimited dictation alone makes it useful every day, even before Pro

Cons

Mac only — no Windows, web, or mobile version, so mixed-device teams cannot share it
Needs a fairly new Mac: macOS 26 or later, Apple Silicon, and at least 16 GB of memory (24 GB recommended)
Meeting notes, transcription, and the Commitments board sit behind the paid Pro licence, not the free tier

Pricing

Model: Freemium
Free to download; dictation and voice notes free forever; NoteOwl Pro is a $79 lifetime licence for one Mac, with a 7-day free trial in the app and no card required — check the official site for current pricing.
